BIOGRAPHY

Lyndsey Jameson is an artist based in the North-East of England. In 2004, she graduated from Sunderland University with a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art. Since then, she has taken part in group exhibitions in venues such as the Mercer Gallery in Harrogate; the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh; and the National Portrait Gallery in London.

In 2010, her painting ‘Sentinel’ won second place in the public choice poll at the National Portrait Gallery, London.

Following her success at the National Portrait Gallery, Lyndsey worked on a charity project (Futureheads – FH10), raising funds for a North-East hospice, alongside renowned artists such as David Shrigley.

In 2017, she took up a part-time position as a studio painter for an esteemed British art duo, and in this role she has worked on paintings which have been featured in major British Galleries and auctioned in Bonham’s and Christies, selling to household names. Lyndsey has also undertaken private commissions for distinguished art collectors.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work focuses primarily on the human condition and ideas around existential nihilism. My work is often characterised by vivid colours contrasted against darker tones, evoking an air of unease. Highly realistic focal points draw the observers’ gaze, expressing anguish and the uncanny through gesture and symbolism. Each picture reads like an allegory ending in resignation.
