Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Frank Oriti paints blue-collar protagonists who have attempted to escape their suburban homes, but ultimately have ended up returning here. His style is extremely naturalistic and the figures seem weighed down, seemingly withdrawn and disappointed by their failed escape from the Midwestern suburban hometowns.
