Mouse Trap

“I love to find outfits and props for my models around Halloween.  I found the Mini Mouse Ears, and knew I had to have them.  I had my model wear the ears with and without the ruff collar, and in this image my model is looking down, which is unusual for one of my paintings.  She has a look of reflection on her face, which I find captivating.  I did not know then that I would pair the image with an Andy Warhol version of ” Double Mickey Mouse 1981″, but it was an obvious perfect fit!  I chose this version of Andy’s Mickey because of the colors he used.  Because of the way I work, the image of my model will dictate the background. This painting probably asks more questions than it answers….. After I painted it, I posted it on FB, and asked for title ideas……’Mouse Trap’ was one of them.  Pop Art is known for tongue in cheek humor and irony, so I used that title as a kind of double entendre.

This painting was written about in an article by John Seed in the Huffington Post titled; “When Kanye West and Vincent Desiderio Meet: Some Thoughts on Recycling And Repurposing Of Images”.
