Marco Martelli

Marco Martelli was born in 1968 in Florence, Italy. A self-taught painter, he was influenced at an early age by a school teacher who was also a painter. After high school, Martelli attended the University of Florence where he graduated with a degree in architecture. His thesis was on industrial design.

Martelli has since dedicated himself to painting. Selected by Alessandro Riva and Maurizio Sciaccaluga he participated in the Michetti Art Prize in Francavilla al Mare, Chieti (one of the oldest art prizes in Italy) and later was featured in the exhibit “Nuovi Pittori della Realta” in the Padiglione di Arte Conteporanea Galleria D’Arte Moderna in Milan.

Over the years, Martelli has shown his works in galleries worldwide including Galleria Falteri, Florence, Galleria Il Polittico, Rome, Galleria Restarte, Bologna; Galleria Mya Lurgo in Lugano, Switzerland, Aca Gallery in Toronto, Canada; Anthony Burnelli Fine Art Gallery in Binghampton, New York and the Metropolitan Gallery of Texas in Florence, Texas.

In the US, Martelli also participated in the exhibits “The Italian Contribution to the Series Access Denied”, University of Nebraska; “Access Denied, SDSU Briggs Library an event curated by Leda Cempellin and John Rychtarik.

Between 2014 and 2016, Martelli has had shows in Venice: “liberepersonelibere” and “La Regola del Volto” both curated by Anna Caterina Bellati in collaboration with the Venice Biennale of Architecture. In 2015, he took part in the exhibit “Materia Celeste” also in collaboration with the Venice Biennale of Art 2015 curated by Anna Caterina Bellati and Antonella Nota.
